Sailing into the Blue Nautical Wedding

Engagement: Doug proposed to me on the same sailboat we had our 1st date on. It was a cold, windy and rainy night.  He was working on the boat at the dock and called me to say that the boat was taking on water, to get me to bring him some tools down to the marina.  When I got there, the boat was not sinking but was filled with candlelight. Their was a little black box waiting for me on the table along with crystal glasses filled with champagne.  Pretty sneaky!

From Panache: Melanie and Doug were brought together by a mutual friend who knew they’d be perfect for one another.  Each of them loves to sail, and since sailing was a major part of their early dates and their engagement story, it naturally had to be a part of the wedding.  They searched for a nearby location that would provide a beautiful setting for an outdoor wedding at water’s edge, and most importantly could accommodate a sailboat arrival and departure.  The rest of the wedding details fell into place easily, as their attraction to things nautical was genuine.  From the gift dinghy, to the Nautical Nectar cocktail, to message-in-a-bottle written wishes, to the just-married flags on the get-away sailboat, every element expressed their personality in a nautically elegant way.  And for the honeymoon...they sailed off into their future, of course.
